Problem:
A national health service asked us, in partnership with BOGGI AERONAUTICS, to solve the helicopter maneuvering difficulties during the use of winch in mountain locations.
Critical issues:
– The rigidity of the EASA safety regulations
– Weight containment to not aggravate the maximum helicopter’s reach
– Necessity to cancel any vibration
Proposal:
For system construction it was used ERGALL (high strength aluminum), while the outer shell is made entirely in carbon-fiber. These choices have assured us strength and lightness.
From the idea we went to the design, and shortly afterwards to the feasibility study on CNC machine tools. To obtain the desire results we had to use our best-performing CNC 5-axis machining centers.
After our first assembly flying tests were done. All the structure showed correct stability and mirror did not present any kind of vibration. EASA certification was obtained immediately.
